Ilgar Abdullayev is a space law advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Azercosmos, the Space Agency of Azerbaijan. He uses law to invite individuals to gain knowledge and engage in business within the space industry and ICT. He moved to Azercosmos in the end of 12-year work at the Azerbaijan Ministry of Communications. During his 14 years at Azercosmos, he played a key role in Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2 telecommunications satellite programs, as well as Azersky remote sensing satellite program, overseeing their manufacture in USA, and Ariane launch, obtaining international export credit and insurance. He has participated in drafting the laws on “on Space activities” (2022), “on Telecommunications” (2005), the first National Space Program (2009), legislative acts on establishing Azercosmos (2010-2011). In recognition of his contributions to the national space industry and ICT, the President of Azerbaijan awarded Ilgar Abdullayev the “Progress” medal in 2014.
